OUT TODAY - Pig In A Sock by The All Night Chemist
The second single from The All Night Chemist is out today and it’s an abosulute banger! The album will be out in two weeks on the 30th June.
Pig In A Sock is based on a true story. When I was just a small baby growing up on a farm in Herefordshire, a sow (that’s a lady-pig to you city-folk) accidentally rolled over onto one of her piglets. So my dad took it in, put it in a sock to keep it warm, and gave it to my mum. He insisted that she took it to bed for the night along with me - one under each arm. The next day she woke up to find that one hairy little fella hadn’t made it through the night. We assume it was the pig…
I took this story and asked the question, what if the boy had actually died that night and they’d raised me, the piglet, instead?
The song is about growing up, not fitting in, being different and being ok with that, owning who you are and being proud of it, whether you’re too tall, too hairy, or just a pig, it’s all OK. I credit my best friend (and big supporter of me as me) Adam Tomlins for the line “you do you babe” as it’s his unofficial catch-phrase in life.
