Sea Shanty from Apple of my Eye

Apple of my Eye have been singing shanties for years, but they just hadn’t recorded any… until now! The Limejuice Ship is a shanty mocking new nineteenth century health and safety legislation. The shantyman lists out various rules and regulations under the Merchant Shipping Act, declaring merrily and sarcastically that aboard the ship everything will be done “according the to the Act”. This includes, of course, the provision of lime juice to ward off scurvy. Apples found the song in Stan Hugill’s “Shanties of the Seven Seas” (1961), which belonged to Chris’s dad and is now quite hard to come by.
