The All Night Chemist
“Daft and Irresistible” - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6
Formed in 2021, The All Night Chemist (T.A.N.C) are the newest, and possibly only, wannabe dad-rock folk band on the London scene. Their debut album “Lunchtime Special”, packed with tasty treats, is out on the 30th June. Formed around the singer, songwriter and banjo player Jimmy Grayburn, the band draw on a range of sound and experience. Jimmy’s love of American and British folk music and storytelling clash brilliantly with 90s indie and 70s rock from guitarist Benji Tranter, roving bass and keys from Calum Perrin and drums from Ben Howarth.
Walking a delicate line between the domestic and the surreal, the tragic and the comic, the album is introspective but also filled with spirit. Think you’ve heard a story a million times before? This album will grab you by the ears and show you something new.
Their live show is both upbeat and intimate, it’ll make you laugh, cry and dance, maybe even all at the same time. Like dad-rock? Like folk music? Accepting/ambivalent about banjos? If you said yes to any of these then this is a show for you. If you’ve said a hard NO to all of these, then this show is even more for you!
