The All Night Chemist

‘Daft and Irresistible’ - Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

The All Night Chemist is the band and solo project of Sheffield based singer, songwriter and banjo player Jimmy Grayburn. His writing is inspired by the storytelling roots of traditional British and American folk music, while covering narratives seldom explored. Just a little too earnest to be truly tongue-in-cheek, his songs celebrate and mock the mundane while stirring the soul.

His music combines 70s folk-rock and 90s absurdist indie, with a sound like Johnny Flynn, Neil Young and Wilco, with a touch of They Might Be Giants. It walks a delicate line between the domestic and the surreal, the tragic and the comic. With anything from cheesy pop bangers about mobile phones, to dark trad folk fighting the modern-day fur industry, his music has storytelling at its heart.

He released his debut album “Lunchtime Special” in 2023.
